Ah, finally, my daughter is gone off to school and there’s nothing but the same type of peace and quiet you might expect to hear when you go to Salish Lodge on Wednesday mornings to enjoy the 100 year old institution’s deal on its 3 course Country Breakfast for the throwback price of $19.16.

The Country Breakfast is a three course meal including a selection of juices, a baker’s basket of pastries, coffee or tea, buttermilk pancakes, seasonal fruits with Devonshire Creme, Old Fashioned Steel Cut Oats, Salish Honey Poached Fruit and a main course of three farm fresh eggs, smoked bacon, apple pork sausage, ham steak, hashed potatoes and a buttermilk biscuit.

It also includes the Honey from Heaven service where honey from the lodge’s hive is poured from high above your plate and onto your pancakes.

Trust me, it’s pretty cool. My wife and I went when the breakfast special was introduced and it’s pretty spectacular in a wonderfully romantic setting. Heck, if our daughter hadn’t been so whiny and today had been Wednesday, we probably could have dropped her off and still had time to get there.

The Country Breakfast normally costs $37, but on Wednesdays from now through June 29th, it’s just $19.16. It’s available from 7 to 10 a.m. and well worth whatever you have to do to get the kids off to school early so you can make it to Snoqualmie Falls in time to have breakfast with that special someone.

As for me, well, I’m just surprised I somehow managed to get my daughter to school two minutes before the start of classes. After a day like today, that breakfast is looking pretty good right about now…..
