Free Tax Help Available at Seattle Public Libraries

February 25, 2015

Who says there’s no such thing as free help filing your taxes?

The Seattle Public Library is offering just that at a number of its branches through early April. It’s brought to you by AARP, the Seattle Public Library and Seattle King County United Way. As part of the effort a cadre of trained volunteers will be on hand to answer taxpayer questions and even help prepare personal tax returns. (Personal returns only, no business returns.)

When and where the services are offered vary widely. You can get drop in service but it’s on a first-come, first-served basis so you should be prepared to wait. You should also be prepared by having the right documents in hand including Photo ID, Social Security card, Medicare card (if applicable), all your tax documents, mailings from Social Security Administration and whatever else might be relevant.

The Seattle Public Library website has a complete list of times and locations where the service is being offered. Or you can check the SPL’s calendar for an up-to-date schedule
