Free Spoken Word Performance @Roy Street Coffee Tonight

December 11, 2014

imagesRemember when you were young, single and could stay up late just so you could go to that cool fringe theater show on Capitol Hill or that band in Belltown?….Me, neither.

Well, then I’ve got some good news for you former night owls–you don’t have to stay up late to take in some cool entertainment, especially if you like spoken word performance and like radio shows like “The Moth” and “Snap Judgement.”

That’s because Roy Street Coffee (Inspired by Starbucks) hosts a free spoken word event called “Fresh Ground Stories” starting around 7:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month and, what do you know, that’s tonight.

The cafe previously hosted story slams put on by “The Moth Radio Hour” until “The Moth” stopped doing story telling in Seattle. The Moth may have left, but Roy Street bravely carries on with funny and –dare I say it?–even occasionally thought provoking stories that will capture your imagination and take you on an amazing ride.

The show starts at 7, but the barista I spoke to and the community events calendar at the cafe suggests arriving as early as 6:00 or 6:30 if you want to the best shot at getting a seat.

Roy Street Coffee is located at 700 Broadway East on Capitol Hill.

I can hardly wait. B3z6ZQtCcAIoflJ

This sounds great but The Moth is still around. It goes on early every month at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center.
