July 12, 2014

Grunge Blue-burst Background TextureConcerts aren’t the only things that head out doors once the weather turns nice. So do plays. And there are lots of places you can see outdoor shows all over town, but there’s only one place where you can see nine plays on the same weekend and that’s the Seattle Outdoor Theater Festival, which runs today through Sunday at Volunteer Park.

The shows are being performed at two stages, one at the Amphitheater, the other at the Museum Lawn and a few will be performed twice over the weekend.

The list includes Much Ado About Nothing, Julius Caesar, Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf, Love’s Labours Lost, Teatro Minestrone’s Around the World in 8 Stories, Richard III, The Lost Folio (by Jet City Improv) and The Two Gentlemen of Verona.

The first show starts at noon on Saturday and 11 on Sunday. All performances are free, but you may want to bring your own seats and some sunscreen as well as a big hat and some sunglasses to protect you from the sun.
