Friday Funny: RadioShack Shocker

March 7, 2014

This Just In:
After losing $400 million in 2013, the official electronics firm of pre-computer age geeks everywhere has announced plans to close 1,100 stores, potentially leaving thousands of otherwise unsellable components homeless.

Ironically, many long-time RadioShack fans thought things were looking up after seeing the electronics chains Super Bowl ad in which a store clerk answers a phone and says, “The ’80s called; they want their store back.”

Some transistors and other electronic geegaws and doodads were so optimistic that they began speculating about a possible upgrade and name change to something more current like RadioCottage, RadioStarterHome and eventually even RadioMcMansion.

Until RadioShack reported losing $191.4 in the fourth quarter of 2013.

Stunned over the impending closure of the only home most have ever known, many of the components have decided to stay together on the streets to create their new home, RadioShantyTown.
