La Tienda Begins Going Out of Business Sale (Local Deal)

January 3, 2014

Unknown-1After 51 years in the business, the owners of La Tienda Folk Art Gallery in Ballard (2050 NW Market) are calling it quits and began a going out of business sale on Thursday with everything in the store at least 20 percent off.

Long time readers know that the CB is always sad to mention closing sales because he had to hold one himself when he closed down his mother’s store. But he always uses it as an opportunity to do a bit of public service and remind people about the way to conduct themselves at such sales. Remember, business owners often put their hopes and dreams in their businesses and are sad to see them go. While a going out of business sale may be a savings opportunity for you, it often represents the death of a dream for them. So, please be respectful and refrain from negotiating on posted prices. If you don’t like the price, you can either wait and take your chance that it might go down again or you can walk away. There’s no need to be insulting or complain about what a terrible sale it is.

You may think this is common sense and common courtesy, but you’d be surprised at how many people need to be reminded of it.
