Field Report: McDonald’s Blueberry Pomegranate Smoothies

May 26, 2013

images-4Let it never be said that the Cheap Bastard isn’t quick to praise even the unlikeliest of sources when he finds something good.

Last Thursday the CB and his kids went to the drive-in at the McDonald’s on 145th and Lake City Way to try out McD’s new blueberry pomegranate smoothies and all three loved it. He was prepared to say it was cloying, too icy, too sweet…or too something, but it was pretty darned good.

And at 220 calories for a 12 ounce drink, it’s also good for you.

The only thing the Cheap Bastard didn’t like was having to wait 10 minutes at the drive up window (and no, he’s not talking about how long it took to get from ordering at the menu to getting out of line, he is actually talking how long it took to get the drink once he got to the window) to get the drink.

It made him wonder if McDonald’s had joined the slow food movement.
