Visit the Netherlands in Washington for $129

December 10, 2012

9ab0c671-9185-40f4-8c33-615dfb007ca7-700_q60_-jpgNot far from Bellingham is the fabled Dutch town of Lynden complete with windmills and tulips. As odd as it is to the CB’s travel writing alter ego, surprisingly few people have heard of it….and that’s too bad because it’s a lovely place to visit. It’s two hours away from Seattle, five miles away from the Canadian border and just a heck of a nice town…..kind of like Poulsbo without all the hullaballoo…

Okay, okay, Poulsbo is Scandinavian, but you get the picture….

All of this is leading up to the Living Social deal for a two-night stay for up to four guests in a one-bedroom unit (sounds kind of cozy, doesn’t it?) at the recently-renovated Homestead Resort for $129 ($285 value). If you want to stay over a Friday and Saturday night, you’ll pay $20 more, but it’s still a good deal.

As Living Social is quick to point out, the place features a fitness center that has indoor/outdoor pools, hot tubs, tennis, tanning booths and, because everything’s up to date in Lynden City, modern work out equipment. And when you’re not working out, you can visit the cool Pioneer Museum and enjoy baked goods at the Lynden Dutch Bakery where you can ogle servers dressed in traditional garb.

The deal is good Dec. 6, 2012 through Feb. 28th, so there’s still time to go there before the Mayan prediction of the end of time is realized. Limit 2 per purchaser, up to 10 additional as gifts. No pets permitted. No children allowed.

Savings to date: $20,923.04
