Escape to Oregon Wine Country for $90 a Night

July 24, 2012

The Cheap Bastard doesn’t know about you, but he’s thinking that a wine country escape sounds pretty good about now. Just thinking of getting away from it all puts a smile on his face. Either that or it could be the thought of his wife returning after he’s been stuck with the kids for four days following a tight deadline.

Yeah, he’s pretty well tired and the great thing about that is, when you’re tired it’s so much easier and cheaper to get a good buzz from wine or just about any intoxic…um…er…did he just say that?

Well, regardless, Travelzoo has got a good deal going where you can stay at the Silverton Inn and Suites in Silverton for $179 for two nights (Sunday through Thursday) or $199 (Friday, Saturday). You’ll also get a daily continental breakfast (although which continent, the Cheap Bastard isn’t quite sure), a $30 voucher for dinner at a local restaurant, plus a bottle of wine, two glasses, a corkscrew and two passes for Oregon Gardens. (The Cheap Bastard listed those items in random order. Please don’t think that means he is suggesting that you go get drunk at Oregon Gardens). It’s a $325 deal.

The CB could go on and on about how Silverton has been called Oregon’s Garden City or that the Oregon Gardens features a Frank Lloyd designed house, but at this point, he doesn’t really care wher he gets away to as long as he gets away…And that it’s a good deal.
