Buy Bumbershoot Tix Now Before Prices Go Up

July 12, 2012

The Cheap Bastard doesn’t know how many times he’s mentioned this, but it pays to plan. Of course, with a 4 year-old and a 5 year-old, it’s hard to do much advance planning, but he tries.

Still, if you either don’t have really young kids or know for sure you’re going to be in town over Labor Day weekend, you may want to consider cashing in and buying tickets now before prices go up next week (the week of July 16th). The Cheap Bastard isn’t quite sure when next week, but word from Bumbershoot is they’re going up substantially.

How much?

Well, right now, you can get tickets for a specific day for $40 each (a $55 value), a pass that’s good for one day for $45 (this is good for someone who doesn’t know what day they want to go yet) or a full weekend pass for $110 (a $165 value).

Fortunately, it’s not a complete pig in a poke. The line-ups aren’t completely solidified yet, but the list and times of who’s appearing when is constantly being updated. So far, the list includes such noteworthies as Tony Bennett, Jane’s Addiction, The Jayhawks, Mudhoney, Fishbone, Janeane Garofolo, Too Beautiful To Live, John Waters and a session on my favorite, the book Go The F to Sleep.

The Cheap Bastard isn’t really sure how to calculate this, so he’ll go with maximum savings for the four day pass and add in a one day pass for those who might just buy one.

Savings to date: $10,082.20

Do you know WHEN the prices go up? I read somewhere that they go up after Tuesday, but I don’t remember where.
