Father’s Day Freebies

June 15, 2012

Do you hear that? It’s the sound of the world’s smallest violin playing for the Cheap Bastard. Why? Because, try as he might, he has not been able to train his 5 year-old daughter and 4 year-old son to bring him breakfast in bed this weekend. Since his wife (who does not want to be called Mrs Bastard) will still be out of town on a 16-day military training exercise, he knew it was either teach the kids or do without. So, alas, it looks like he’ll be getting up early and making French toast for the kiddies. Again.

If he can keep the kids from arguing, he’s considering taking advantage of some of these deals:

Free Breakfast for Dads at Ikea. All you have to do is get there before 11 am. Hmmmm. Maybe I won’t have to make French Toast after all, but I’ll still have to pay for the kids.

Free Yogurt at TCBY at participating stores. Apparently, what’s free where may differ. See your store for details.

Have a Sundae on Sunday at Denny’s. Send dad a e-card from the restaurant’s web site and both of you will get a coupon for a free Pancake Puppies Sudae (whatever that is. Hmmm. Is that something Mitt Romney would strap to the top of his car?)

Shoot and Score at Old Navy. Dad has a chance to win a Man Cave just by trying to make a basket at an Old Navy store. Even if dad misses, he can still get $10 off a $75 purchase.

Bug out. Get free admission to the Seattle Bug Safari with the purchase of a regular priced child’s admission.

Eat family style Italian. Get a large pasta dish or other entree at Buca di Beppo and get a small Spaghetti Marinara or baked ziti or fettucine alfredo (don’t forget the coupon).

Dream of Flight. Free entry into the Msueum of Flight in Seattle from 10 to 5 on Sunday.

Get Free Stuff on Southwest Airlines. If you’re flying on Father’s Day, you could get coupons for free Dockers pants, a greeting card and a complimentary adult beverage on all flights. As we all know, there’s not a man, woman or child alive today that doesn’t love a tasty beverage.

Ride the Rails. Get a free ride on the Snoqualmie Valley Railroad when one child pays for the ride. Further proof that they should already be getting an allowance. Doggone it.

Go Kart at K1 Speed Indoor Go Kart Racing. You’ll get a free race when your family buys two races at any of K1’s tracks. Maybe I really should consider starting to give my kids an allowance.

Hop Into Your Chevy and eat. Get a free pint of Fire Roasted salsa at Chevy’s Tex Mex.

And thus ends the planes, trains and automobiles section of our post.

More deals as the Cheap Bastard finds them.

Postscript: And here are a few more deals. Nothing like posting at the last minute:

Alert reader Emeth Hesed pointed out that fathers get in free at the Seattle Art Museum on Father’s Day(and kids under 12 always get in free).

Peet’s Coffee and Tea–Buy a drink for dad and get the second one free with coupon or show coupon on your mobile device to a barista.

Another alert reader, Alyanna posted a comment saying that Dads with moustaches get a free burger on Dad’s Day as well.
