Bikers Ride Free on Metro This Week

May 16, 2012

The Cheap Bastard can’t believe he forgot to mention this one.

In an effort to encourage biking to work, King County Metro and Sound Transit will offer a free ride to bikers who ride their bikes onto the bike racks at the front of the bus. The week of free rides started Monday and will continue through Friday, May 18, which just happens to be Bike to Work Day.

MyBallard.com points out that the bike racks on Metro buses only have room for three bikes and adds that Metro is asking bike riders to wait for the next bus if there’s no room on the rack.

Fine print: Offer not available on Link light rail, Sounder, the South Lake Union Streetcar or Kign County Water Taxi.

Thanks to MyBallard.com.

If you were to ride both ways peak fare for the rest of the week each way, you’d save $15.

Savings to Date: $6,799.
