Tour Lake Union For Under $20

May 14, 2012

There’s nothing like great weather to get you thinking of summertime pursuits. Like boating.

And the Cheap Bastard’s got two deals for you. One that will cost you a bit and another that’s absolutely free.

Queen of Seattle Paddlewheel Cruises is currently offering a 2-hour Lake Union paddlewheel cruise through Google Offers for $19 (a $39 value). In addition to taking in beautiful scenery, you’ll also learn a bit of Seattle history because the crew is outfitted in clothing from the time when prospectors sought their fortunes as they worked their way up from Seattle to the Klondike. The history lesson comes with live entertainment in the form of the Klondike Cabaret Show and steam-calliope songs.

Of course, if all that noise isn’t for you and you just want an unadorned, cruise of the Lake, you can always go to the Center for Wooden Boats on a Sunday afternoon and book a free, one hour cruise of the Lake on an antique boat. All you have to do is get there a little before 10 and sign up for a cruise later in the day. You won’t get a lot of singing and dancing, just a nice, quiet ride. And you might even get a chance to act as a crew member.

Heck, if you play your cards right, you could do both tours in one day.

Fine print on paddlewheel deal: Limit 4 per person, up to 6 additional as gifts. Limit 1 offer per person, per visit. Reservations required.

Fine print on Center For Wooden Boats: Advance reservations not accepted. Just show up and sign up at 10 am.

Savings to Date: $6,376.
