Free Concert…at SeaTac on Saturday (1/28)
The Cheap Bastard loves quirky deals and this is about as quirky as it gets when it comes to music venues.
It seems that Seattle Tacoma International Airport is launching an effort to introduce locals, visitors and people just passing through to the sound of Puget Sound (or more accurately, local artists) by starting Experience the City of Music. The promotion will include a music player you an launch on your computer when you’re logged into the internet at the airport via the free wi-fi and having some local musicians record the everyday announcements you hear in the terminal.
And the airport is having a free concert from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28th to kick it all off. The event will feature kid rockers Recess Monkey, Americana band Carrie Clark and the Lonesome Lovers, electric soul duo Fly Moon Royalty and the Rockabilly band Dusty 45s.
The concert may be free with no boarding pass or pat down from TSA Officer Friendly required, you’ll still have to pay for parking at market rates….unless you take Sound Transit.
It will still be less than the typical ticket price for a four hour concert, though. And if you ride Sound Transit, you’ll hear live music all the way there. How cool is that?
Here’s a little bit of Recess Monkey to help set the mood.
